Sourcing Webkins From Your Local Storehouse

February 16th, 2010

Ok, so you have heard the incessant cry of your child or children regarding their life long ambition to own a Webkins pet and thought maybe its time that you rewarded their good behavior by purchasing them one. Hang on though you have been told chapter and verse on what Webkins plush pets are but how do you go about buying them? Read on to see if you can gain some pointers from this article.

It may be that you haven’t the faintest idea what the world of Webkins or Webkinz (with a “z) is all about, well let me enlighten you. First and foremost you will need to buy your sibling a Webkinz pet these take the form of an animal in one shape or form. Some are pandas and others include tigers, dogs, cats, turtles and frogs to name but a few. When you purchase a Webkinz plush pet you will find a tag attached. On this tag you will find a secret code. Armed with this code your off-spring will be able to access a whole new online Webkins world where they are able to adopt a virtual incarnation of their “real life” Webkinz pet. Once entering the on-line world of Webkins your child will be able to take part in games and quizzes and earn KinzCash. The KinzCash earned can be used to take care of the adopted virtual pet by buying food, furniture, medical supplies and accessories such as clothing.

Sourcing your child’s Webkins plush pet locally will entail you visiting as many stores as is possible in your locality. Buy Webkinz pets are basically toys so toy shops are probably your first port of call. These little furry critters are also great gift items often sold in gift shops, book stores and media centers. Search the Internet using your favorite search engine to find details of Webkins stockist’s in your area, using your post or zip code to narrow your search and dont forget to use bothe spellings ie. with a “z” and an “s”.

Webkinz products are becoming increasingly popular, having said that, you may not find them widely available in your local shops. It may be an idea to phone your local toy, gift shops and media stores before you embark on a potential fruitless shopping sortie. It may be that if they don’t sell Webkins products they may know a store that does.

We touched on the Internet search option earlier in the article it is worth mentioning that if you visit the Webkinz website you will find a section that lists local retails that sell Webkins products. It will require that you enter your locality such as country, city and state. Once you are armed with the information from the Webkins site it will still be worth phoning ahead of a visit to confirm stock levels and availability.

You may find, very often, that your local stores have a limited selection, however, you will also, most likely, find that they have a catalogue of the full range of Webkinz products available to order. This may be one of the only ways to secure a sought after Buy Webkinz pets or accessories.

How To Bath Cat? Is Bathing A Cat Difficult? Washing Cat And Bathing Cat Revealed Here!

January 10th, 2010

Litter Train Cats

How to bath cat? Is bathing a cat difficult? Washing cat and bathing cat revealed here!

How to bath a cat easily!? Cat Bathing made simple for both humans and cats.

[1] Make sure that the Water Temperature is right for Bathing Cat.

The water should be luke-warm when going to bathe cat, more on the room-temperature side, because if you put hot water on your cat, it will get burned.
Cold water is always a better solution for bathing cats or kittens. Cats don’t mind the cold. Unlike myself.

Yet water should not be tooo cold when bathing a cat- you know what I mean - not so freezing cold that your poor cat shakes and its teeth chatter… Just pleasantly luke-warm, like for a baby bath.

[2] What Should You Bathe Cat In?

Choose a shallow bathing tub that your cat can easily stand in. Deep buckets might cause cats to panic and feel as though they’re stuck in a narrow clastrophobic well.

Best would be a shallow plastic container or a small laundry bucket, that is safe for cats and not slippery.

We plan on introducing our cats to water in a gradual way and not throw them into a 6 foot/2m pool and have them get a heart attack from fright.

Place a towel around the dish so that your cat can stand on it afterwards and get dry. Also the towel aroung the cat bath will prevent your house from drowning under water. ;-D

You can also use a rubber mat for the bath bottom, so the cat won’t slip, but it isn’t a ” must have “.

If it’s a slippery tray, then the rubber mat is advisable, but if it is a plastic dish, then you don’t need to worry about it. Anyway, it’s a shallow cat bath so there is no risk.

[3] How Deep Should The Cat Bath Waters Be?

Start bathing your cat with just enough water to be above cats feet.

For the time bathing kittens or washing cats, just place your cat in the tub and let cat play around in there. Cats will get used to the bath and think it is fun.

Tips For Playing With Your Cat In The Tub:

If you play with your cat inside the cats bath with a string, or with some other toy your cat will enjoy bathing and want to get in there again.

Make it the place where you play with your cat with a certain item (like a mouse on a string or some kind of “cat bathing” toy.) you only use in bath. Your cat will be glad to jump in there and want to play with you.

Another cat bathing motivator is giving your cat a few yummy cat treats when he baths.

Next Stages Of Cat In The Tub

Don’t worry if your cat makes a mess. The towels you places around the bath tub will mop up most of it.

Gradually you can begin to increase the depth of the water.

Beware: For most cat types, water should never be deeper than cat’s knees.

This should be enough water to give your cat a bath, without creating the fear of drowning panic in your cat’s mind.

How to wash your cat in the cat bath?

Don’t pour the water over your cat or dunk her inside, instead use a wet cloth and dab your cat with it over his or her fur while paying with it in the bath.

Some cats are amazingly expert swimmers, maybe you will have the next “swimming champion”, but don’t push your cat to be one…

Which Cat Food Bowls And Cat Food Dishes Are Safe For Your Cats To Eat From?

January 10th, 2010

Litter Training Cats

Which Cat Food Bowls and Cat Food Dishes are safe for your Cats to eat from?

What Cat Bowls and Cat Food Dishes are Safe for my Cat to use?
Cat Food dishes are a very common and easily found cat food item. Yet sometimes, if there isn’t a shop in your near you might have to go online to find the right cat food dish. In which case you should first compare a few different cat food dishes and cat food bowls before desiding for one spesific cat food bowl.

You can also compare prices for your cat food dish in a few different shops, but mostly the prices for cat food dishes will be the same, since it’s such a low priced item any way…..

All cats need to eat from something and of course if you have a cat you will need to have a cat food dish or food bowl. There are the most common kinds of cat food dishes such as plastic food dish for cats, stainless steal cat food dish and a ceramic or porcelan cat food bowl.

Compare these three most common cat food dishes and cat food bowls to find which one is the right one for your cat!

There are three common kinds of cat food bowls and cat food dishes:

A ceramic or porcelan cat food dish
A plastic cat food bowl
A stainless steel cat food dish

A Ceramic or Porcelan Cat Food Dish
A lot of ceramic and porcelan cat food dishes are very beautifully decorated. Ceramic Cat food dishes are heavier then other cat food dishes and wont fall over if thrown around. However if you buy a fancy painted cat food bowl, make sure that it is marked “safe for food”. Some fancy, decorated and beautiful cat food dishes contain lead in the paint or glaze (or other things), which is poisonous when eaten by humans or pets. Usually if the food dishes are safe for people to use, then they will probably be safe for your cat.

Just check to make sure!

Plastic Cat Food Bowl - safe or not?
Plastic cat food bowls are commonly sold in pet supply stores and are easy to clean, can not be broken and are usually very cheap too.

Nevertheless, plastic cat food dishes are not highly recommended.
They tend to get scratched easily and could house bacteria that will make your cat or kitten sick.

The plastic cat food dishes also get slime on the sides and that can caus serious problems for your cat and for you too.

Our cats like to play with any water dish or cat food dish and fling them across the floor causing a lot of mess and water. There for plastic bowls aren’t recommended since they are easier to fling and knock over and can really caus a big mess!

WARNING: Sometimes, a very cheap plastic cat food dish might come with a very sharp edge that could perhaps cut your cats lips or skin. Therefor check any plastic cat food dishes before buying any cat food dish or bowl.

Stainless Steel Cat Food Bowls:
Stainless steel bowls are solled almost everywhere. Stainless steal cat food bowls are dishwasher safe and sturdy. However there are some minuses to consider before buying any stainless steal cat food dish….

Some people think that stainless steel cat food bowls are not a good choice either since they give the cat food a bad metallic taste. Although I never had a bad experience with steal cat food dishes, (since I have never bought a stainless steal cat food dish for my cats) I can imagine that it probably would have the same affect as our steal pott that made us sick!

However since i personly have not tried it, you could give it a go if you wanted to!

3 Cat Food Bowl Tips:
1. Whatever type of dishes you purchase, make sure they are washed out and refilled every day with clean fresh water.

2. Use a wet sponge to rub the sides and corners of the cat food dish to make sure that no bacterias and slime are growing there.

3. TIP: When you choose any cat food dishes for your cat, buy something that is sturdy, dishwasher safe and made of metal or ceramic that wont brake if your cat/s knock it over and wont make the cats food taste bad!

Keep Your Cat Off The Counter For Good!

Keep Your Cat Off the Counter for Good!

Disciplining a cat has long been known as an exercise in futility. These proud creatures will happily ignore scoldings and other methods to do just what they want. Kitchen counters are like magnets to cats. Cats love high surfaces, and, as a bonus, the kitchen counter smells delicious. Your counter is often full of good things to eat, or at least, still smelling of them, and any self-respecting cat is required to investigate. It may seem impossible to keep your pet from “counter-surfing.” Before kitty drives you to your wits’ end, try a few simple tricks to discourage him.

Cats hate the sticky feeling of tape, so try applying some sticky-side up to the edge of the counter. The sensation of stickiness on your cat’s paws may be enough to keep him off the counter. The disadvantage to this method is that you will have to keep applying the tape as long as you want to repel the cat, and cleaning the adhesive off your counter later can be a chore. Strips of aluminum foil are also suggested, as some cats hate not only the feel of it on their toes, but also the crackling noise. Be careful, though—some cats find aluminum foil highly attractive and will pull it down for a toy. Make sure that your cat does not ingest any foil if this happens.

Another method of repelling your cat from the counter is to employ a loud noise that will upset your cat when he has done something wrong. A few pennies in an empty aluminum can, shaken when the cat is on the counter, can make him learn that the counter is off limits. If you place a few of these cans along the edge of the counter where the cat will be sure to knock them off when he jumps up, the resulting racket will bring down the cat. Other loud noise methods include a popped balloon, or slapping noisemakers based on mousetraps. The traditional water spray method can also work, though it is important to make sure that the cat connects the discomfort of being wet with the counter, and not with you.

It is also important to make sure that temptations that entice your cat to jump on the counter are reduced. Keep good smelling food off of the counter top, make sure that there are other high places that your cat can sit, and make sure your cat has ample space to roam. These steps, combined with the above preventatives, can help keep your cat off of the counter.

Survival Preparedness For Felines!

November 28th, 2009

Many people have learned how to prepare their family for a disaster. Some people have even made sure that they have a disaster readiness kit. But as the New Orleans’ Disaster showed after Katrina, few remembered to prepare for their pets. Cats are resourceful if left behind but the trauma can mean they never return home or are never the same pet that you once enjoyed.

Cats left out in disasters that are cold based can actually die of hypothermia. Although your cat may have a furry coat, cold weather can still be extremely dangerous. Imagine how you feel after being out on a cold day for more than a few minutes-even with your winter coat, you are probably still very cold Cats are the same way, and if you leave your pet exposed to the cold for too long, he or she may show signs of hypothermia. In a worst-case scenario, hypothermia leads to death.

If you cannot evacuate your cat then make sure your cat cannot get outside in any way. Your pet may not be able to figure out how to get back inside, and by the time you return and find your beloved missing, hypothermia could have taken hold.

Some ways to be prepared include the following.

1. Get your cat used to wearing a collar. Make sure all the information for your pet is on the collar in case he manages to escape your grip or get out before the disaster strikes. When cats are confused, they often run. It is in their nature to do so. If you are hurriedly loading your car, it is easy for them to slip out the door and run.

2. If you are evacuating, lock the cat in a small room such as a bathroom until you are actually ready to leave or crate it so it has time to settle before you load it in the car. If you have locked your cat in is carrier or crate occasionally for short periods of time prior, it will be used to being crated and while it may not like it, it will not be as frightened as it would be to suddenly be snatched and shoved into a new environment. Pets can sense their owners stress levels so in natural disaster, they are already picking up on the owner’s stress, making sure the cage is familiar will help a great deal.

3. A cat carrier that is well ventilated is a necessity, and if the evacuation will be more than a few hours long, you’ll also need to carry food, water, and litter box for your cat. Pets that are not used to riding in cars may get sick, so talk to your vet about ways to prevent this. You can also cover the carrier with blankets to provide a bit of extra security for a stressed-out kitty when you’re in heavy, loud traffic or construction areas.

4. What ever you do, do not leave your pet behind if you can find it. Not only will this permanently change your pet if you can reunite with it, it can stress children or elderly during the evacuation with constant worries as to the pet’s well being.

5. Create a kit that you can grab and go in case of an emergency. Of course, it should be with your own preparedness kits!

Top Five Cat Grooming Problems And How To Solve Them

November 13th, 2009

If you have a cat then you know how important it is to groom your cat on a regular basis. When grooming your cat there are 5 cat grooming problems you need to know and you need to know how to solve these problems.

Here are the top 5 grooming problems and how to solve all of these problems.

1. Fur - You want to brush your cat’s fur at least once a week if it is a short haired cat. For cats with longer hair do it two or three times a week.

Brushing your cat will keep tangles and other things out of their fur. When you first start brushing your cat they may not like it.

If they don’t then you just need to start slowly and introduce them to it. Don’t force them to do it if they are fighting you. Instead you want to do what you can the first time and then give them a little time before trying again.

They will eventually get used to the brushing and will sit still for it. Use brushing time to bond with them and give them some loving because this will help them enjoy this chore more.

2. Claws - A cat uses their claws for many things such as climbing and to defend themselves. You have to be sure that you keep their claws clipped so they don’t become ingrown which can easily cause your cat inflammation and pain.

To help with this you want to get them a scratching post because this allows them to exercise their claws and will help wear down the long tips. When necessary you want to clip their claws my hand and your veterinarian can show you how to do that.

3. Bathing - There are some cats that won’t require a bath but if they suffer from fleas or if their coat smells than it is definitely time for a bath. Everyone knows that cats hate water.

Giving your cat a bath might be a little difficult but it can be done with patience and encouragement from you for your cat. When bathing them you want to use only shampoo that is formulated for cats or you can use a baby shampoo that is tearless.

When you do have to bath your cat if you give them a treat afterwards then they will start to associate a treat with a bath and it will get easier every time.

4. Eye cleaning - You must keep your cats eyes clean which can be easily done with a cotton tipped swab dipped in warm water. This will help them from developing eye problems. Just be gentle with them and take your time and eventually they will get used to this step.

5. Ear cleansing - There are many health problems that a cat can get from ears that are not kept clean. You need to gently swab the ear with a cotton swab to keep problems away. Use this as bonding time and go slowly to clean their ears so they don’t get scared.

This is how to solve the top five cat grooming problems. Now that you know these you can use them to be sure your cat is always well groomed and as healthy as they can be.

Contented Cats: Indoors Or Outdoors

November 1st, 2009

Until my recent visit to my sister’s home, I have always felt sorry for cats that are never allowed to go outdoors. It just seems to go against the intentions of Mother Nature. My own two cats really enjoy their cat door we had installed just so they can go in and out as they please. And it gives me so much peace of mind knowing they can get in when I am gone, especially if they aren’t in when I go. Before having the cat door, if they weren’t in when I left for work, I would feel so bad knowing they had to spend the day outdoors waiting for my return, even though I knew there were places they could take shelter from the elements.

However my Mother has expensive, adorable cats, especially chosen to minimize allergy problems, and they are as happy as any cats I have ever encountered. Why? Well start with all the crazy and imaginative toys she has for them. This long tunnel thing they run around in; the circular toys with the balls they bat around. Various perches and hideaways. She even got a very nice bird cage and put several parakeets in it, made sure it was constructed so as to keep the cats out and sturdy enough to not tip over as they are checking it out, and it’s like their own personal TV show. Same with the aquarium, with colorful goldfish. They can’t get in but they sure enjoy looking in.

And here’s the clincher. They go out for “walks” in her Kittywalk Stroller. They love it! She also just takes them out in it when she works in the garden, and positions it in different places in the yard, so they can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and be close to her, which appears to be their favorite place to be. No surprise there…

So I have had to revise my opinion, these cats look as healthy and happy as they get. Having said all this, I have no regrets letting my own two go outdoors, and would not change that. I even go spend time in the yard just to please them, as their favorite time to be out there seems to be with us. The longer we are out there the longer they stay out too. The playful one likes to jump on my back from behind and leap over my head as I squat down to pull weeds. I guess I have a strong heart as the shock hasn’t caused a heart attack yet.

So I know there are pros and cons as far as the indoor vs. outdoor approach with cats. I can happily say mine don’t have a strong hunting instinct and don’t bring me dead birds or rodents (have had those kind in the past). A lot depends on one’s lifestyle and living situations. In the end I think our cats can be healthy and happy with either situation, if we are responsible and loving owners.

What To Try And Do When Detecting A Lost Pet - Chien Perdu - ?

October 31st, 2009

What to do when finding a stray - chat perdu - cat or kitten in an exceedingly busy road or in the middle of nowhere? Such an pet deserves immediate care; otherwise, a automobile or a larger animal might kill him, or worse, he could fall into the hands of cruel people. Be sure of your safety if you are driving by checking the road before stopping, signaling your intention, using your warnings, and then stopping by the side of the road at a secure place. Don’t jump out of your car suddenly, and try to act calmly toward the animal. If he feels uneasy and becomes afraid of you, he may suddenly rush into the traffic and could get killed.

The primary thing to try to do in such a case is to approach the pet slowly with a gentle manner and gain his confidence. If the pet seems friendly enough and allows a stranger to handle him, wanting for a few reasonably identification is the following step. If his tag has the owner’s phone number, you’ll be able to decision the owner immediately. If the cat features a license range on his tag, the native county pet agency will trace the animal to the owner.

If the - animaux chiens - has no identification, you will take him to a shelter or to the native animal control agency. If you are afraid the native agency can euthanize the animal, you’ll be able to raise them to trace the homeowners and supply to become his temporary adopter until they can do so.

The following step is to take the pet to a veterinarian, even before you are taking him home with you. This can be very vital, for the reason that you don’t know if the animal you found features a sickness or a disease which will infect you, your relations, and your other pets at home. Various sorts of diseases will be transmitted from cats to humans or to alternative animals.

Even, if the animal appearance hostile and threatening, it’s better to require some help instead of handling him yourself. If the animal is injured, signal the opposite cars to slow down till you’ll be able to get the pet to relative safety or find a appropriate carrier to require him to your car.

Once you approach the animal, be certain he sees you and understands that you’re a friend. Take a look at to speak to him in an exceedingly gentle voice and offer him food if you have got it with you. If you have got a carrier or a box in the car, place the cat within it, creating positive he gets enough air. An unrestrained pet whose behavior is unknown to you’ll be a danger to himself and to your driving.

The last but not the least is to not become too hooked up to a found animal. Not all cats that are lost have irresponsible owners or are abandoned. Some animals solely wander away and find lost, while their owners grieve. If you are taking the lost pet to your home and he becomes half of your household, be ready to hand him over to his original owner if you’ll be able to find him and if that owner shows up for his - perdu trouvé - lost pet.
