Dog First Aid Kit
Having a dog first aid kit is just as important as your own personal first aid kit. The first aid kit for dogs serves as a safety net to ensure that your wounded dog gets immediate attention to their health problems before taking them to the veterinary clinic for full medical attention. Dogs are always full of fun. All different kind of things from running, jumping to chasing balls and sticks. Unfortunately whilst they are doing these things there is a much greater chance of your dog getting injured.
If you have been ignoring the importance of a dog first aid kit then let me tell you a simple story from experience about my first dog. The first dog that I got for myself in 2006 died because I ignored the need for first aid. In early 2007, my dog got into a really bad fight and was left with lots of wounds and was bleeding badly. Before I could reach the nearest veterinary clinic which is about 5 Km from where I live, my dog died. When I eventually arrived at the clinic the doctor told me that if I could have stopped the bleeding using either splints, bandages or any blood clotting agent, the dog would have lived.
After this I figured that having a dog first aid kit next to my closet was a safe option and if you are still ignoring the importance of this treatment kit, you don’t have to wait for the worst to happen to your dog before you take one step ahead to make sure that your pet lives (I mean, just learn from my own mistakes). You don’t need to buy a full medical kit, just get some of the basic stuffs that you need to administer emergency help to your dog.
Some of the basic things you need for your dog first aid kit
1 Aloe Vera gel
2 Tweezers
3 Gloves
4 Splints and bandages
5 Hydrogen peroxide
6 Latex gloves
7 Muzzle
8 Gauze
9 Saline solution
10 Antibiotic
11 List of emergency phone numbers
There are other contents for a full dog first aid that you still need. If you don’t want to keep buying bits and pieces one after the other, you can buy a commercially made kit though it’s quite more expensive than getting it together yourself but it gives you the option of having everything you need in a dog first aid kit.
