Reasons Why The Dog Is Vomiting
Dog owners would already be accustomed to occasionally seeing their dog throwing up. A dog owner hearing the gagging sound made by the pet would instantly leap not to help the dog but to save the carpet from the mess. It would really be very annoying if the dog would not finish throwing up in one place but would transfer to another to deposit another heap of vomit. In times like this wouldnt you want to vanish the dog to Neverland?
A dog owner should not be surprised if the dog throws up as these animals are indiscriminate eaters. Dogs are voracious eaters that would not pass up the chance to consume even inedible objects. Objects that are not supposed to be in the stomach will be rejected by the dogs system. Dogs only have to vomit to remove the foreign objects from the stomach. Dogs have a reputation for being ravenous eaters. Dogs can finish off significant amounts of food in so short a time. Throwing up can be the result of the dogs fast eating habit as excess food that can no longer be accommodated by the stomach would have to be expulsed. The dogs vomiting can be acute or chronic. Dog owners need not worry about the sudden onset of vomiting as long as the dog exhibits a normal level of energy and has not lost the eagerness for food. Normally, sudden bout of vomiting is not an indication that the dog has a serious illness. Sudden vomiting usually results from the dogs insatiable eating habit so that when the excess content or the foreign body in the stomach is thrown up, the dog would act as if nothing happened. Acute vomiting though can also be a medical emergency. Dogs are very curious animals. These adorable creatures may have ingested poisonous substances or objects that were swallowed are too large to pass the smaller intestinal tract. Throwing up caused by poisoning or blockage of the intestinal tract would need immediate medical attention.
Chronic vomiting can be due to an undiagnosed medical concern. Dogs with chronic bouts of vomiting can have intestinal parasite infestation, parvovirus or distemper. Allergies, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease are other causes of chronic vomiting. Chronic vomiting can result to poor digestion so that the bodys absorption of nutrients will be hampered and the dog will have a much lowered level of energy, poor appetite as well as a less than appealing coat appearance. Vomiting is common in dogs thus dog owners are usually not concerned with the condition of the pet however because chronic vomiting can have serious effects on the health of the pet it is imperative that medical attention be given.
